Michael Mello is a partner in the firm's property, trusts and estates practice group and practices primarily in the areas of trusts, wills and estates. He has over 30 years experience and has authored numerous articles on trusts, wills and estates, including The Law of Wills & Estates in Bermuda. Mr. Mello received his Bachelor of Arts in History from St. Francis Xavier University (1968) and his Degree of Utter Barrister from Gray's Inn and Inns of Court School of Law (1972).            

Mr. Mello was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales in 1972, enrolled on the Roll of Barristers of The High Court of Justice, Queen's Bench Division in 1972 and enrolled as a Barrister and Attorney in Bermuda in 1973. He was appointed Justice of the Peace by the Acting Governor of Bermuda in 1987 and appointed Queen's Counsel for Bermuda by the Governor on behalf of Her Majesty, The Queen, in 1990.            

Mr. Mello was the founding member of Michael J. Mello, Barrister & Attorney in 1981, Mello & Jones in 1982 and Mello Hollis Jones & Martin in 1990 (now Mello Jones & Martin). During the Courts' vacation periods, from 1975 through 1983 Mr. Mello was an Acting Magistrate, from 1976 through 1994 Acting Registrar of the Supreme Court of Bermuda, and from 1994 through 2004 Acting Justice of the Supreme Court of Bermuda.
