Leila Wadson was born and raised in Bermuda. After exploring her interests in science, community development and environmental and social justice in differing parts of the world, she has just returned to the island.
In 2003, she obtained her BA degree in human biology at Brown University in Providence, RI. She has worked at Paul Newman's Camps for children with critical and life-threatening illnesses, both in New York State and in Gaborone, Botswana. While in Botswana she helped to establish a camp program, training 30 staff and welcoming over 300 children.
She then moved to Washington DC where she worked for Eco Ventures International, a non-profit organisation training youth how to become eco-entrepreneurs.
After returning to Bermuda in 2005, Leila joined Bermuda Government's Sustainable Development Project Team - a team tasked by the Premier with the development of a sustainable development strategy and implementation plan for the island. She is currently a member of the management team for Greenock, a local charity geared towards raising environmental awareness through education and entertainment. She is also secretary of Citizens Uprooting Racism in Bermdua (CURB).
