James Macdonald is a partner in the Corporate Department of Conyers Dill & Pearman in Bermuda where he specialises in general corporate and commercial matters with special emphasis on insurance, including advising insurance mutuals and P & I clubs.  After graduating from Trinity College, University of Toronto in 1976 with a BSc,  he went on to pursue an LLB and graduated  from Osgoode Hall Law School, Toronto in 1979.  He was articled with Toronto law firm  Smith, Lyons, Torrance, Stevenson and Mayer, where he qualified as a barrister and solicitor in 1981 and practised until 1984.In 1984 he returned to Bermuda where he spent nine years as Corporate Legal Counsel to the Bank of Bermuda. He was called to the Bermuda Bar in 1987, and in 1993 joined Conyers Dill & Pearman where he has been a partner since 1997.Mr Macdonald is a Member of the Bermuda Bar Association and the International Bar Association.
