Charles Collis is a partner at Conyers Dill & Pearman. He practises in the firm’s Insurance Group, advising on corporate and regulatory matters for Bermuda’s insurance industry. Mr Collis has advised on the establishment of numerous captive insurance companies, as well as many of the Island’s Class 3 and Class 4 reinsurance companies. The convergence of the insurance markets and capital markets has led him to specialise in insurance derivatives. He has conducted a significant number of insurance securitizations and transformation transactions using special purpose vehicles, traditional reinsurance companies and segregated account companies.Mr Collis graduated from Trinity College, University of Toronto in 1984 with a BA (Hons) degree, and received an LLB from University College, London in 1988. He was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 1989 (he does not currently practice in the UK), and was admitted to the Bermuda Bar in 1991.
