Assistant Police Commissioner Carlton Adams joined the Service as a Police Cadet in 1968. He has spent the bulk of his service in Criminal Investigation, Central C.I.D., the Major Incident Room, Narcotics, and Complaints & Discipline. He also spent 5 years as part of the investigation into the murder of the Governor Sir Richard Sharples and his ADC Mr. Hughsayer in 1973.

Mr. Adams has attended several overseas courses, including a Detective Training Course in England, an Executive Police Management Course in Ottawa, Canada, a Narctoics Course also in Ottawa, Canada and a Firearms Management Course in Montserrat.
