Alan Thompson is an international banker of long standing. He has held increasingly senior positions in the United States, Singapore and the Middle East. He took over as President and Chief Executive Officer of Butterfield Bank in 2002.Mr Thompson is a council member of the Bermuda Stock Exchange and a board member of both the Bermuda Hospital Charitable Trust and the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.He was born and educated in the United States, where he received an MBA from Wharton School of Finance.
