Wild Chicks, U take Best Feature Honours

The Bermuda International Film Festival and Butterfield Bank, today announced that German feature film, Wild Chicks, and the French animated film, U, took top honours at the fourth annual BIFF Kids Film Festival, held over the weekend at Liberty Theatre.
The films were judged by local youngsters, who entered a contest in order to sit on the juries. Sitting on the 6+ jury were: Javier Franks, 6, P2, Prospect Primary; Jahdejah Swan, 6, P2, Prospect Primary; Kayley Gibbons, 7, P3, Somersfield Academy, and Meghan Sherwin, 9, P6, Bermuda High School. Sitting on the 9+ jury were: Meredith Gillespie, 12, Year 8, Warwick Academy; Nicholas Hall, 12, M3, Somersfield Academy, and Alice Graham-Welton, 10, P6, Bermuda High School.
The younger jury selected U as the top feature, while giving its Best Short Award to the Dutch short film, Hard-Boiled Chicken.
The older jury selected Wild Chicks as the best feature, while giving its Best Short Award to the Brazilian short film, Mare Capoeira.Thirty-three films from 19 countries screened at the three-day festival, in addition to 11 short films made by local youngsters in the BIFF Film Academy summer film production camps sponsored by Butterfield Bank.
More than 1,000 nursery, primary, middle and secondary school students also attended films as part of the festival’s School Screening Programme, held Thursday and Friday at Liberty Theatre.Search Press Releases:
