Premier meets with PGA and LPGA Officials

Hamilton, Bermuda: Sunday, April 08, 2007 - 
Premier Ewart Brown, accompanied by Sports Tourism consultant Mr. Roddy Carr, traveled to Augusta , Georgia over the weekend to meet with PGA and LPGA officials.

In his first meeting on Friday morning the Premier met with David Charles, Director of the PGA Grand Slam, PGA America.

“He is very excited about the response from the corporate community to the event coming to Bermuda in October," the Premier said.

“Our goal is to make it so successful for the PGA and Bermuda that our relationship is extended longer than two years," Dr Brown stated.

The Premier continued his meeting schedule by having a lunch conversation with Carolyn Bivens, Executive Director of the LPGA and further meetings with George O’Grady, Executive Director of the PGA European Tour, Joe Steranka, Chief Executive Officer of the PGA America, Richard Hills, Director of the Ryder Cup Limited, Sir Ronald Hample, Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Club, John Hopkins, the lead golf reporter, The London Times and Joe Byrne, Head of Tourism, Ireland, USA.

Amid chilly weather conditions on Friday, the Premier joined a host of spectators to witness the greats of golf as they battled it out at the historic Augusta National Golf Club.

 "It was my first trip to ‘The Masters’ and it was all that I expected," said the Premier. “I followed Tiger around for most of Friday, hoping that he would win this one and Bermuda would be assured of having the world's best player in October."

The Premier returned to Bermuda on Saturday.
