Hamilton, Bermuda: Thursday, December 14, 2006 - (Hamilton, Bermuda, December 14th, 2006) – The 1st St. Patrick’s Guide Company today announce that they have donated their annual 'Shoeboxes of Love' to three elderly ladies in the Smith’s Parish community, Agape House, the children’s ward at King Edward Memorial Hospital, Sunshine League, Women’s Resource Centre. The ‘Shoeboxes of Love’ were made by the girl guides, who are ages 10 – 14. They decorated the boxes during several girl guide meetings and brought goods to put in the boxes such as blankets, crayons, DVDs, hairbrushes, hair clips, lotion, pencils, pens, soap, talcum powder and other toiletries. On December 9th representatives from the 1st St. Patrick’s Guide Company met at the hospital. They went to the children's ward and presented the ‘Shoebox of Love’ to the nursing staff. They moved over to the Continuous Care Unit and sang Christmas carols before moving to Agape House to present them with a ‘Shoebox of Love’.Sarah Randall, 1st St. Patrick’s Guide Company Leader, says: “Christmas is a time for giving. We wanted to take the time to think of others and bring some cheer to those at the hospital. It was a good opportunity for the guides to give something they had created to those less fortunate than themselves.”For those interested in becoming a girl guide, please contact Carol Hall on 292-0675 or e-mail girlguides@northrock.bm.
