Visitor arrivals to the island reached record numbers in 2007, according to the latest statistics.
The number of visitors increased 3.44 per cent from 2006 to 663,767 and air arrivals reached a seven-year high of 305,548 – up 2.2 per cent from the previous year.
Exit Survey results showed that estimated expenditure for air visitors ranged between $370 and $435 million in 2007 compared to $320 to $382 in 2006.
Cruise ship visitors increased by 5.27 per cent to 354,024.
Hotel occupancy was up 3.3 per cent to 67.1 per cent although the average length of stay decreased from 6.64 nights to 6.46.
Unveiling the latest statistics, Premier and Tourism Minister Dr Ewart Brown said: “Ladies and gentlemen, our visitor arrival performance validates that we are reaching more and more potential visitors in key target markets of the U.S.”
