Nine students have graduated from the Seventh day Adventist Church’s GED programme.
The nine graduates are: Katrina Whitecross-Boys, Latroya Caines, Corville Hylton, Jacqueline Hamilton, Rev. Nelson Rewan, Roan Bicarie, Gloria Landy, Rockel Mundy, and Samantha Crockwell.
Premier Dr Ewart Brown delivered the keynote address at the graduation ceremony at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Southampton.
He said: “I’m delighted to be here tonight on what is truly a celebration for education. To me, a graduation is always a celebration – I love watching people of any age be crowned for their educational achievements. I know full well that anytime a Bermudian puts on a cap and a gown or picks up a diploma, it means our country is another step closer to greatness. And conversely, when a young person misses an opportunity to educate himself, he is taking a step backwards – not only for himself, but for his countrymen as well. For all of us.”
Dr Brown went on to urge the students to take their education further, outlining the opportunities available for mature students.
