Friday sees the launch of Bermuda’s annual Heart Month.
The event, which organised by the Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB) and Bermuda Heart Foundation (BHF), runs throughout February and includes a rang of talks, screenings and workshops designed to raise awareness of the potentially fatal disease.
Heart disease is the number one cause of death in Bermuda but is also the most preventable.
Research has shown that by the likelihood of developing heart disease can be cut dramatically by controlling risk factors such as being overweight, smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes.
